Belper Art Trail is curated by Corridor Arts in Partnership with Belper Town Council’s Food Festival organising committee to extend the offering of the Belper Food Festival. The trail features works made by artists based in and around Belper and Derbyshire hosted by shops in Belper Town centre, spread from the A6 up to the market square.

In the 2011 pilot year,  there were 9 artists across 7 venues, a peripatetic work and a performance.

We are funded by drive, determination and a collaborative spirit and receive in kind support from the Belper Town Council.

The Murmation Project

Staged in three phases between November 2011 July 2012.  The first version of phase 2 was seen at the Xmas Food and Real Ale Festival in December 2011.

About the project.

andrew proposes a participation project that anybody can take part in.  the first phase of the project is a distance participation activity and the second phase a drop in activity.  The third phase of the project is to hold an exhibition of the original outcomes from the first phase.

the project is based around doodling/drawing/mark making.

the idea.

A project based on participants adding their own marks to marks made by Andrew on a sheet of A4 paper.

The page is then returned to Andrew and either composited into a phase 2 image or displayed in a third phase exhibition.

The whole project will be conducted under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 3.0 Unported License.  Under this licence we agree that whenever any part of the submitted A4 sheets are publically displayed, the originators of the marks will be credited.

how to take part in phase one.

  1. download the file containing the A4 sheet from this link:The Murmation Project (122.37 kB)
  2. read the ‘what happens next’ and print out the other page with the marks on.
  3. add your  marks to those marks already on the page and there’s a place where you can sign and date your work too.
